We are going on a trip in the part of winter when it is spring in the mountains and it can almost be t-shirt weather during the day. Even so, the temperature fluctuates in the mountains, and it gets colder in the evening and at night.
It might be nice to know that we don’t have to carry our luggage, we drive a snowmobile with the luggage from the parking lot to the island where we will spend the night. It can also be nice to know that being outside does not require the latest, most expensive or everything. We have access to the equipment center to borrow equipment if you are missing something from the packing list, we also bring a little extra if something is damaged, forgotten or if it was colder than you expected. Good experiences are the focus, not the best and most! As we will not be carrying, we can also bring different equipment to test what you think works.
Being outside in the winter is all about layers upon layers. Preferably thin layers of wool on the inside. Then a thicker layer of wool. Then a wine-tight layer at the end. The windproof layer warms best if it is slightly airy and not too tight.
Here’s what we want you to take with you
You can pack in a bag or sack. It will be loaded and driven on a snowmobile. Inside the tents and lavvo we have plastic to put the luggage on so they stay dry. It can be good to pack in something that is easy to close so that things stay inside.
- Sleeping bag. Preferably a sleeping bag intended for winter. It is also possible to have a thinner sleeping bag and a thick wind bag on the outside.
- Sleeping pad. We have camp beds that you can borrow. You can bring reindeer skin, underlay, blanket, inflatable sleeping mat, foam underlay or anything that you want to test.
- Beanie. Preferably one in thin wool and a thicker and windproof one on the outside. If it’s hot, different headbands is good. There is a lot of heat loss from the head, so having good layers here keeps the whole body warm.
- Mittens. Bring several different ones. Gloves, woolen mittens, outer layer with shell mittens outside the woolen mittens if you have them.
- Rainproof outer layer.
- Thin wool longs and sweater. Also preferably underwear. Bring one set, wear one.
- Thick wool trousers and jumper.
- Wool socks. Wear one pair and bring one thin pair and at least one thick pair.
- Wool necks or scarfs.
- Good with cotton clothes as an outer layer if the weather is not wet, type windproof and water repellent. But no requirement.
- Headlight.
- Warm, tall winter boots.
- Ski boots, Pants that can be attached as gaiters or gaiters are a good idea.
- Cross-country skiing or mountain skiing. Remember to check that bindings and shoes fit together.
- Ski poles. Preferably with a large pulley, we are not going on beaten tracks, but snow-covered landscapes.
- Toiletries. Our toilet has a mirror and wet wipes. We provide heated water so that we can wash our faces and hands when needed.
- Drinking bottle.
- A day trip backpack.
- Sunglasses, caps can also be good.
- A knife is handy to have with you, but not a requirement.
- You can bring a down jacket if you want, but layers upon layers of wool and windproof on the outside do the same thing.
