Arctic Adventure Camp

FAQ | TRAVEL | BOOK

Transformative all-inclusive mountain adventure over four days and three overnight stays in the middle of winter Norway. Wilderness knowledge meets mindset. With recharging, community, bonfire food, reflection and inner strength building.

Camp outside in the winter

Embark on an unforgettable adventure as you learn the art of winter camping. Discover the thrill of mastering survival skills in the snow-covered wilderness, where the serene beauty of the winter landscape serves as your backdrop.

You will learn to master activities that you can later use on your recharge trips. We will focus on a good mix of both training and the adventure of experiencing:

  • Cross-country skiing to get ahead in snow mostly requires skis. Either
mountain ski, cross-country skis or randonee skis work for this trip. We ski for 1.5 kilometers to get to the island we are going to camp on. The luggage is driven by snowmobile.
  • Peak trip on skis to a viewpoint with the possibility of a top trip to Lausmundklumpen (867 m.a.s.l.). The trip starts at 460 m.a.s.l. so there are 407 meters of altitude at a leisurely pace. Lausmundklompen towers over most peaks in the area and from the top you can see Europe’s highest freshwater island, Tunnsjøguden, far into Sweden, and into two national parks in Norway. Halfway to the top there is a nice viewing plateau, where we set up a lunch spot, you choose your own pace and whether you want to go all the way to the top.
  • Ice fishing at the camp, both food and excitement! There will of course be an ice fishing competition.
  • Bonfire meals are all the trip’s meals with a focus on healthy food you can cook yourself. Good raw materials from the shop and fish from the lake.
  • Wilderness camp with different tents, lavvos and hammocks so you can test different solutions. We have a large lavvo with a wood stove so no one will freeze on the trip.
  • Safety in the wild. First aid, assessments and agreements is especially important in the wilderness. You will become confident in what you need to take with you on a trip and what you need to know.
  • Navigation is vital for outdoor safety, involving awareness of your location and effective navigation skills. Participants gain confidence in using maps, compasses, and GPS devices, mastering essential navigation techniques.
  • Smart clothing outside to stay warm enough and dry. Layer upon layer, we learn to dress up like an adventurer, choice of materials and knowledge of air layers as insulation. This is carried out in the group online before the trip.

After days filled with activities together you will find yourself in good company laughing around the camp fire or taking some time alone for a moment of zen in some of the most wonderful surroundings mother nature has to offer.

Good to Know

INTIMATE

Group numbers are maximum 12 participants to provide an intimate feeling to the expedition and to minimize our environmental footprint. A low guest to guide ratio is maintained to maximise safety and ensure personal attention.

We are a very friendly, small company who love wilderness and mindset and want to share this amazing location and experience.

FOOD

The food you are served is freshly made by your guides each day. We cook together, to experience and learn. Food from raw ingredients, either from the store or from the wilderness around us.

LOCATION

Imagine waking up on your own island, surrounded by the serene beauty of the wilderness and embraced by majestic mountains. This idyllic location promises a escape into the heart of nature.

BEING OUTSIDE ALL THE TIME

Apart from being able to enter the tent or lavvo, or go under a tarp all time and activities will be outdoors. There is something special about both seeing the sun rise and the sun set, being outside to experience this gives a completely different calm and presence. On the island there is a small house with a toilet and a small storage. Here you can charge batteries. The toilet is a pleasant outdoor toilet.

LESS EQUIPMENT FOCUS

You don’t have to worry about carrying your luggage; we use a snowmobile to transport it to the island. Also, being outdoors doesn’t mean you need the latest or most expensive gear. If you’re missing anything from the packing list, you can borrow it from our equipment center. We also bring extras. Our focus is on creating great experiences, not having the best or most expensive gear. Plus, for those arriving by plane, we make sure you don’t need to bring too much with you.
